State Disability Insurance (SDI) for State Employees
SDI was negotiated for employees in Bargaining Units 1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, and 21.
SDI pays part of an employee's wages if they are unable to work due to a non work-related illness or injury or due to pregnancy or childbirth. SDI also covers an employee if they take time off work to care for a seriously ill child, parent, spouse, or domestic partner, or to bond with a child (i.e., under age 18) within one year of its birth, adoption, or foster care placement.
