Labor Day Briefing
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is proud to serve California's diverse and skilled labor force of more than 18 million people. One of our most important jobs is to help you find a job now and prepare you for jobs in the future.
We have pulled together information on jobs currently available statewide that require a variety of skills, as well as training opportunities for those of you looking to prepare for the high-growth jobs of tomorrow. Even in the midst of this economic downturn, there are numerous opportunities that you can take advantage of right now.
The "Top Jobs" lists below reflect those with a high number of immediate openings on CalJOBSSM (EDD's online job and résumé listing system), a high number of projected openings, and a high median wage.
These jobs require skills and education ranging from work experience to a bachelor's degree.
Each list also features a "Toolbox for Job Seekers," which outlines career and job search services and opportunities, including information on new interactive California Occupational Guides, One-Stop Career Centers, and CalJOBSSM.
For housing industry workers who've been especially hit hard in the current economy, the Toolbox also features information about specialized training opportunities, along with a calendar of job and resource expos designed to help these workers transition their skills into in-demand jobs.
For in-person assistance with your employment or job search needs, please visit one of our One-Stop Career Centers located throughout the State. There's never a charge to help you find that job today or prepare for the opportunities of tomorrow.
