Capacity Building Unit

The Capacity Building Unit (CBU) provides staff development training to enhance the competencies of California’s workforce development community staff.

The CBU uses a webinar delivery system for all training offered to reach more people and meet the needs of staff. These webinars are available at no cost to WIA funded organizations throughout California listed below:

• EDD Field Offices
• Local Workforce Investment Boards (LWIB)
• Local Workforce Investment Areas (LWIA)
• One-Stop Career Center operators
• Workforce Investment Act (WIA) partner agencies

The webinars are delivered multiple times during the initial release and repeated as needed. A recorded version will be available on the CBU eLearning page. The announcement of upcoming webinars is accomplished through Information Notices.

CBU webinars offer:

• Specialized training
• Sharing of best practices

For this unique experience to be successful, we must limit the number of participants, so early registration is highly recommended. For maximum training benefit, CBU encourages managers to divide staff between the training sessions and have staff participate from their own work.
