California Governor's Committee on Employment of
People with Disabilities
The purpose of the California Governor's Committee on Employment of
People with Disabilities (CGCEPD) is to promote the employment of persons in
California who have disabilities. As a voluntary public-private sector partnership, the
Committee advises the Governor's Office on various disability-related employment issues.

CALIFORNIA COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY
The Governor's Committee and the California Health Incentives Improvement Project want to thank all stakeholders for providing input

NO COST DISABILITY TRAINING FOR CALIFORNIA ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER STAFF - NAVIGATOR TRAINING SERIES
This training focuses
on effective practices to enable One-Stop Career Center staff to provide comprehensive employment services to persons
with disabilities. Each of the Basic and Intermediate Navigator modules are offered in a computer-based on-line
format. Using a computer with an Internet connection, learners can visit the Navigator Training Series web site
and complete the self-paced instructional modules at their convenience. The information in each instructional
module is presented in a narrative format with a variety of multimedia features designed to enhance the
learning process. After successful completion of the training series, students will receive a Certificate of
Completion at the Basic or Intermediate Navigator level. Instructions and training links are in the following WIA Info Bulletin

NO COST HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING FOR CALIFORNIA EMPLOYERS - EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES AND ACCOMODATIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The purpose of the human resource training is to introduce human resource professionals to workers with disabilities
as an emerging workforce. The training was developed in partnership with the California State Council of the Society for
Human Resource Management (CalSHRM). business resource teams, including job developers, may want to offer information
about the "Employment Practices and Accommodations for People with Disabilities" and its Web site to their business customers.
This training program has been approved for 2.5 recertification credit hours through the Human Resource Certification Institute
www.hrci.org. The training carries the HRCI "Approved for Credit" seal. The HRCI is an affiliate of the Society for
Human Resources Management. The human resource training is also available on the CalSHRM homepage at www.cal-shrm.org/default.asp.

a synopsis of the training and/or services that are available from each resource.

California Disability Program Navigators
This link provides a listing of 31 Disability Program Navigators (DPN) that serve in One-Stop
Career Centers throughout the State. The Disability Program Navigator serves as an expert on
workforce development issues and policies impacting individuals with disabilities who are seeking
employment, skill development, job retention assistance, or career advancement through the
One-Stop Career Center system (including the use of Individual Training Accounts, which are
typically underutilized for individuals with disabilities). The Navigator also serves as a
resource to the workforce investment community within their service area to ensure the
availability of comprehensive knowledge on federal, state, local and private programs that
impact the ability of individuals with disabilities to enter and remain in the workforce.
The Navigator facilitates universal access to the One-Stop system for individuals with disabilities.
California Health Incentives Improvement Project The California
Health Incentives Improvement Project (CHIIP)
is a multi-agency collaborative effort working to remove barriers to the gainful
employment of people with disabilities, particularly health care and personal
assistance barriers.
California State Personnel Board
This is where you can find out about job and employment information
with the State of California.
Limited Examination and
Appointment Program (LEAP) If you are an individual with a "disability" who either (1) has
a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of
such individual or (2) has a record of such impairment or (3) is regarded as having such an
impairment, you may wish to participate in the State Personnel Board's Limited Exam and
Appointment Program (LEAP) authorized by Government Code Section 19240-19243.4.
California Department of Rehabilitation The mission of the Department of
Rehabilitation is to assist Californians with disabilities in obtaining and retaining
employment and maximizing their ability to live independently in their communities.
California Disability Access Information The Department of
Rehabilitation has just launched a new web site that has information on laws and regulations related to
access and reasonable accommodations.
Disability Benefits 101 (DB101) Working with a
disability in California. This is a website on health coverage and benefit programs for workers,
job seekers, and service providers to promote understanding of the connections between work and
benefits for people with disabilities.
DeafZONE
A collection of deaf resources ranging from chat rooms to news and special events.
The National Federation of the Blind Founded in 1940, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is the nation's
largest and most influential membership organization of blind persons.
America's Jobline NFB has pioneered in developing the technology to
access and search computer files with a standard touch-tone telephone.
