State Grants

In an effort to assist people with disabilities, the workforce community and service providers, a link to EDD’s Workforce Community Web page Grant Funding Opportunities is provided, along with links to some other Web sites that contain grant information. While this is not an all-inclusive listing, these sites provide current and on-going funding opportunities. Some of the Web sites listed below provide free automatic e-mail notification services announcing new grants. Visit the Web sites and sign up for up-to-date information (if available).

  • A Beginner’s Guide to Grant Writing - This article is available on the National Association of Social Workers Web site. This article examines the critical components of developing funding proposals.
  • A Guide to the Competitive Grant Process - The Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, created this guide to provide grant applicants with general information on programs. This guide intends to be an aid in developing the grant application package and to answer frequently asked questions.
  • California Workforce Investment Board - The California Workforce Investment Board is responsible for assisting the Governor in performing the duties and responsibilities required by the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998. This site provides the latest news, funding opportunities, and legislation that may affect California’s workforce community.
  • Department of Labor Funds in California Local Areas - This site lists Department of Labor grants in California Local Workforce Investment Areas.
  • NASWA/CESER - The National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) is the national organization of state administrators of unemployment insurance, employment and training services, and labor market information programs in the 50 states, including the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The Center for Employment Security Education and Research (CESER) is the education and research arm of NASWA devoted to improving government services to America’s workers and employers.
