Veterans’ Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP) - Frequently Asked Questions
Unfortunately, a soldier on “Terminal Leave” does not qualify to participate in this grant since they are technically “active” in the military. These individuals would qualify for 15% Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) formula funding. Inquire at your local America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM.
The focus of the VEAP 2015/16 is to enroll Dislocated Worker (Veterans) with significant barriers to employment with an emphasis on Special Disabled or Disabled Veterans. If a veteran has 0% disability but is eligible as “Dislocated,” he/she can still be enrolled into this grant.
The codes for the VEAP 2015/16 projects are 1065 and 1066.
- Can a subrecipient have partner’s staff do direct data entry into CalJOBS using the subrecipient’s assigned grant codes?
Access will be provided to the individuals listed on the subrecipient’s CalJOBS System Access Form. The subrecipient organization’s MIS Administrator has the authority to grant CalJOBS access to other entities that are not Local Workforce Development Areas (Local Areas) as needed. For Local Areas, the process is as follows:
- Subrecipient submits request to WSBProjectManagement@edd.ca.gov to add subcontractor to grant to get CalJOBS access.
- After EDD staff approves and processes the request, the subrecipient will be notified when the subcontractor can start accessing CalJOBS to enter grant data.
There are no co-enrollment requirements for this grant. Refer to the co-enrollment criteria outlined in the original Solicitation for Proposal (SFP).
- Are there any specific data elements beyond those usually reported that we need to track for this grant?
The performance elements for this project are the same elements listed on Form 2, provided in the original proposal package.
