Summary: The Care project will serve 45 at-risk and foster youth residing in San Diego. Collaboration with project partners will offer a rich assortment of supportive services and social service programs to address major barriers confronting at-risk youth who undergo job training. Concurrently, the Labor Council will provide highly focused pre-vocational soft and hard skills training with input from local employers specifically designed to fill much needed job openings. After receiving this highly focused training, youth are prepared to access union apprenticeship programs and obtain employment in high wage/high demand occupations through the Labor Council pre-established relationships with employers. Target industries/occupations include: utilities and communications; defense, transportation, and manufacturing. |
