Summary: ALLIANCE Intensive Employment Services will provide intensive, enhanced employment assistance for the most difficult to employ and individuals with severe mental illnesses. These services, will include job development, career assessment, training, job placement, on-the-job coaching, and follow along support services. Services will be collaborated with local community and faith-based organizations including Santa Clara County Mental Health Department, Catholic Charities Vocational Program, Local One-Stop Centers, San Jose First Employment Services, and Project Hired.

Summary: Emmanuel’s Family Life Center will establish a comprehensive employment training program to serve the needs of homeless individuals, individuals on probation, long-term public assistance recipients and individuals who are non or limited English speaking. As a result of taking computer and language developments classes, receiving personal and vocational counseling services and job training, all program participants will have positive qualities and employability skills to enter and succeed in the workplace. This project will collaborate with a multitude of local governmental, community, and faith-based organizations including County Probation Department, East Adult Education Program, City of San Jose, Center for Employment and Training, Cathedral of Faith and Communidad Cristiana.

Summary: Foothill Family Shelter, founded as a community outreach program for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, will provide transitional housing along with support services to homeless single mothers, and to assist them with job counseling and referrals, educational and training needs, and transportation problems. These services will help homeless single mothers achieve income and employment stability and improvements.

Summary: GirlSource’s Technology and Leadership Program will provide on-the-job training, technology skills, life skills and leadership skills to low-income women, ages 14 to 18. They expect 95 percent of the individuals participating will complete the program and 60 percent will be placed in jobs or internships. GirlSource will also be implementing the "College Bound Program". They maintain long-term relationships with program participants and hope to achieve an 80 percent college completion rate. GirlSource collaborates with several youth oriented community based agencies across the bay area.

Summary: Helping Hands of Hope, an affiliate of Berkeley Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, will provide services to probationers and parolees between the ages of 18 and 30. Services include job readiness, job search, job placements and GED preparation. Support services include workshops on anger management, domestic violence, and parenting. The project will provide referrals for childcare, mental health, medical and substance abuse. Job retention workshops will be offered covering communication skills, team membership, and decision-making skills.

Summary: The MacArthur Park Employment Training Program, a collaborative effort of the Institute for Urban Research and Development, Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment and the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, will provide educational and employment services to unemployed and underemployed residents of the Pico Union/MacArthur Park District. These services will enable individuals to secure living wage opportunities with the food service industry. The program will include classroom instruction, hands-on training, on-the-job training, and educational services.

Summary: The Orange County Conservation Corps give at-risk young adults the opportunity to develop the work skills, self-confidence, social responsibility and education needed to enter the workplace. Services will include on-site housing rehabilitation and construction work experience, occupational classroom training, employment skills development, job search training, leadership development, high school completion and support services. The project will also increase the supply of affordable housing for low income and homeless families in Orange County. OCCC will coordinate project services with local partners including, Orange County Social Services, Employment Development Department, Housing and Urban Development, and other local community based and faith-based organizations.

Summary: Redwood Community Action Agency (RCAA) will provide an employment and training program for hard to serve homeless adults, singles, and head of household. Partnering with the Redwood Region Society of St. Vincent de Paul, RCAA will provide wrap-around intensive case management, classroom based life and job readiness skills, on-the-job training and vocational counseling. RCAA also collaborates the provision of services with other local community and faith-based shelters, local one-stops, and Department of Rehabilitation.

Summary: San Diego Second Chance Program specializes in job readiness training with the nationally recognized STRIVE program. Second Chance will provide services to homeless individuals, offenders and persons with disabilities through a new partnership with faith-based Metro, its’ Good Neighbor Community Centers and its established network of 68 churches, synagogues and mosques. This neighborhood-based initiative, coupled with the development of an Internet based network of employment access centers, maximizes the unique and complementary skills set each agency brings to the partnership that will serve those most in need.

Summary: San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center will provide comprehensive services to clients facing multiple, serious barriers to employment, focusing on the homeless, long term public benefit recipients, mentally ill, substance abusers, single parents, and non-custodial parents. Assistance will be provided on two tracks: 1) long-term case management and counseling services to address barriers that will assist with transition to job education/training and job referral, and 2) short-term assistance as appropriate to clients with limited needs, such as resume development, transportation and clothing assistance, job and agency referrals, managing children and work. Services will be coordinated with Goodwill Industries, Toolworks, Arriba Juntos, Jewish Vocational Services, Walden House, City College, Bay Area Legal Aid, Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities, etc.

Summary: Small Steps "Turning Point" program is to provide a seamless, comprehensive vocational program within the context of supportive social services which helps individuals to understand the importance of taking vital "small steps" to achieve the greater goal. Program participants will receive opportunities for structured employment, job readiness, and employment training. Additionally, individuals will receive intensive support for stabilization and on going assistance following placement in the mainstream job market. Summary:Valley Achievement Center will focus project services on adults with autism. The goal is to enhance the life and job skills of local adults so that they may acquire and sustain meaningful employment. Valley Achievement Center collaborates with many community and public entities that are involved with this targeted population. This includes Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Kern Autism Advisory Committee, Employers Resource Center and a local community Christian school.

Summary: Wardrobe for Opportunity will provide free professional clothing and career development support to economically disadvantaged women so they can gain the image, self-confidence and self-esteem necessary to find and maintain employment. Their goal is to empower clients and increase their enthusiasm for work. All clients receive two business outfits upon their initial appointment. A "working wardrobe" tailored for the client’s specific job is provided once she obtains employment. Wardrobe for Opportunity collaborates services with Millennium Ministries, United Way, and 70 local workforce development and social service agencies in the East Bay.
