Student Assistant Program
Our Student Assistant/Graduate Student Assistant Program offers on-the-job experience in a government setting. You can see what it is like to work for the state and how various programs impact each other and the people of California.
We have student assistant opportunities throughout the state in a variety of fields, including accounting, administration, marketing, information technology, human resources, and more.
You will gain valuable public service experience and learn about policies and procedures through duties that can fall under these two categories:
- General – General administrative or technical duties.
- Research – Research and analysis of EDD programs and policies.
Salaries and Benefits
Student wages and pay increases are based on the number of college units completed and time worked. You will have a flexible work schedule and earn paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave (based on qualifying time worked).
How to Apply
You can apply if you are currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. You must provide proof of enrollment.

- Search for Student Assistant or Graduate Student Assistant positions with the EDD and follow the application filing instructions on the job posting. Submitting your application online through your CalCareers account is the recommend method.
