El Seguro Estatal de Incapacidad (SDI, por sus siglas en inglés) es financiado en su totalidad por los trabajadores, y la mayoría de ellos contribuyen al seguro; lo que significa que es muy probable que sean elegibles para recibir pagos de beneficios. El programa de SDI se compone de dos tipos de seguros:

  • El Seguro de Incapacidad (DI) proporciona pagos de beneficios a corto plazo a trabajadores que han perdido una porción de su sueldo debido a un embarazo o una enfermedad o lesión no relacionada con el trabajo.
  • El Permiso Familiar Pagado (PFL) proporciona pagos de beneficios a las personas que necesitan tomar tiempo fuera de su empleo para cuidar de un familiar que se encuentra gravemente enfermo o para establecer lazos afectivos con un nuevo niño.

En esta encuesta se les preguntó a los encuestados acerca de su nivel de satisfacción con los servicios del EDD, cuando recibieron los pagos de beneficios de DI y/o PFL. Los porcentajes están redondeados al número entero más cercano.

*Benefit payments are normally issued within two weeks of the EDD receiving a properly completed claim. In 2018, the EDD processed 93 percent of DI claims and 88 percent of PFL claims within two weeks. Claims that were not processed within two weeks required additional information for processing.
