According to the U.S. Department of Labor, skills acquired by veterans can meet or exceed the requirements of the civilian workforce.1 In fact, one out of three veterans have a bachelor’s degree or higher, roughly 4.4 percent higher than non-veterans.
The following are some of the skills that many veterans have acquired and used in the uniformed services:
- Specialized advanced training in information technology, logistics, medical, mechanical, and security fields.
- Ability to work as a team member and as a team leader.
- Ability to give and follow directions, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
Did you know there’s a tax credit that promotes the hiring of veterans? The WOTC program provides a federal tax credit incentive for employers to hire veterans who need additional support to enter the workforce.
