State Disability Insurance (SDI) Online

The Employment Development Department (EDD) automated some key SDI services to better serve our customers. SDI Online provides customers with electronic and automated options that are simple to use.

SDI Online is convenient and secure. The system reduces claim processing time, provides immediate electronic confirmation of forms submitted, decreases costs in paper and postage, and includes security safeguards to detect and manage fraud and abuse.

Claimants

Claimants can file claims for Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL), submit documentation, access DI claim information, and view DI payment history through SDI Online. DI and PFL claim filing are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The following services are available Monday – Saturday, 6 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 6 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.: SDI Online registration; payment history and benefit information access; address updates; and Claim for Paid Family Leave (PFL) Benefits – New Mother (DE 2501FP) form submission.

Update: Beginning July 15, 2014, claimants with an SDI Online account who selected an electronic communication preference will no longer receive paper versions of the Claim for Continued Disability Benefits (DE 2500A) and Request for Delivery Information (DE 2513). Claimants who selected a paper communication preference or who do not have an SDI Online account will continue to receive paper versions of the DE 2500A and DE 2513. Electronic versions of both forms will be available to claimants with an SDI Online account. Using SDI Online to submit these forms ensures faster processing of claims.

Physicians/Practitioners

Physicians/Practitioners can view a patient’s claim for benefits, submit DI and PFL claim certifications, and view claim certification history. SDI Online registration for physicians/practitioners is available Monday – Saturday 4 a.m. – 12 midnight and Sunday, 4 a.m. – 9 p.m. All other services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Physician/Practitioner Representatives

To register, the physician/practitioner needs to create an account and add you as an authorized representative. Once registered, representatives can view a patient’s claim for benefits, submit DI and PFL claim certifications, and view claim certification history. SDI Online registration and all services for physician/practitioner representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Employers

Employers can access and submit electronic Notice of Claim forms. SDI Online registration and all services for employers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
