Mailing something to EDD?

USPS now postmarks mail when it’s processed, not when it’s dropped off. To avoid delays, mail early or use myEDD whenever possible. Submitting online is the fastest and most secure way to send documents to us.

Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave Benefits

The California State Disability Insurance (SDI) program provides short-term Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) wage replacement benefits to eligible workers who need time off work.

You may be eligible for DI if you are unable to work due to non-work-related illness or injury, pregnancy, or childbirth.

You may be eligible for PFL if you need to:

  • Care for a seriously ill family member
  • Bond with a new child
  • Participate in a qualifying event because of a family member’s military deployment to a foreign country

To file for benefits or manage your claim, log in to your SDI Online account. You can read EDD messages, submit online forms, or manage your profile.

Note: It may be necessary to send some documents by U.S. mail.
