Employers

Whether you are an established employer or starting your first business, this page provides some important resources and information that you need to succeed.

Important: As of January 1, 2018, all employers are required to electronically submit employment tax returns, wage reports, and payroll tax deposits to the Employment Development Department. Penalties for noncompliance will be charged starting January 1, 2019. You can use e-Services for Business to comply with the e-file and e-pay mandate and avoid these penalties. It’s a fast, easy, and secure way to file, pay, and manage your employer payroll tax accounts online. For more information on the mandate, visit E-file and E-pay Mandate for Employers.

In addition to the information below, it is important for claimants and employers to understand their roles and responsibilities in ensuring that information is reported accurately and benefits are paid appropriately. Committing fraud has serious consequences. Learn more on Fraud and Penalties: What You Need to Know or review our Recent Fraud Convictions.
